Our pharmacists have clinical expertise in oncology and understand the difficulties patients may face in dealing with their therapy.

There are many health challenges and complex issues for patients in treating cancer, including medication and side effect management, proper nutrition, rest and exercise. Many of the newer cancer treatments have been developed as oral chemotherapy agents, replacing infused drugs which were traditionally administered in the physician office. These treatments offer greater convenience for at-home administration but often require specialized education to effectively deal with side effects, ensure adherence to therapy and obtain clinically desirable outcomes. Our pharmacists partner with patients, caregivers and health-care providers to ensure oral chemotherapy agents are taken correctly and that any adverse drug events are recognized and reported immediately.

Clinical monitoring: Through regular contact with our patients, our Clinical Pharmacy Specialists monitors patients for side effects, adherence and drug interactions throughout their entire course of therapy. We make it our business to ask patients about their side effects and apprehensions so that they may continue therapy safely and with confidence.

Refill reminder program: Timing is everything with oncology medications. We reach out to patients to schedule medication pick-up or delivery as often as needed. And because these drugs can have toxic side effects and drug interactions, we keep a close relationship with patients to ensure safety and compliance. As a health care partner, we provide peace of mind so patients can focus on wellness.

Insurance advocate: At Prosperity Specialty Pharmacy, our Account Coordinators will help you understand your insurance coverage and maximize your healthcare benefits. We also coordinate closely with your doctor's office to make sure all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted, eliminating the potential for any uncovered costs after you start treatment.

Medicare coverage

Many of the oncology drugs that we carry are covered by Medicare. Prosperity Specialty Pharmacy files claims to Medicare on behalf of patients. Patients are responsible for the 20 percent of the cost not covered by Medicare, if no secondary insurance is available.
